<aside> 🎨 Hello! I’m Bryan (Dexter) Holland, and I’m proud to be a part of the Generalist world. Throughout my life, I’ve embraced the idea that you don’t have to limit yourself to a single path. From fronting The Offspring to earning a Ph.D. in molecular biology and starting my own businesses, I’ve always been drawn to new challenges and opportunities. Being a generalist has allowed me to explore different passions, learn from diverse experiences, and contribute to the world in unique ways. It’s a mindset that encourages curiosity, adaptability, and a lifelong love of learning

If I had to pick one song that represents me being a generalist, it would probably be "The Kids Aren't Alright."
This song touches on a lot of different experiences and challenges people face in life—how things don't always turn out the way we expect. I’ve always been interested in a lot of different things, and this song captures that idea of unpredictability and trying to make sense of it all. Whether it's music, science, or running a business, I’ve never wanted to be defined by just one thing.
Musically, it's a blend of punk energy with a broader, more mainstream appeal, which I’ve always liked doing with The Offspring. I think it's a good reflection of how I try to approach life—pulling from a bunch of different influences and making it work.
The lyrics also dive into various life paths, and that's something I can relate to. I’ve taken some unexpected roads myself, and this song really resonates with that idea of navigating different directions, whether it’s through music, my research, or even flying planes. It’s a reminder that things don’t always go as planned, but you make the most of it.
"I've always been curious about everything. Sure, I'm known for fronting The Offspring and rocking out, but that's just one side of me. I've also got a Ph.D. in molecular biology. It might seem weird, but I love the balance. Music lets me express myself and connect with people, while science helps me understand the world on a deeper level. It's all about being open-minded and never limiting yourself. Who says you can't be a rocker and a scientist at the same time?”.
